Piss Sculpture

Popis: PISS SCULPTURE – STREAMS (PROUDY / ČŮRAJÍCÍ POSTAVY) The Piss Sculpture, also known as Streams (Proudy), is one of Prague's most unusual and provocative works of modern art, created by Czech artist David Černý in 2004. The sculpture consists of two bronze male figures, each approximately 2.2 metres tall, standing in a shallow pool shaped like the map of the Czech Republic. The figures have moving hips and penises, allowing them to urinate into the pool and write messages using streams of water. The sculpture was designed to display quotations from famous Prague writers. Visitors could also send SMS messages, which the figures would then write on the water's surface. What does it mean? According to David Černý, the sculpture represents a typically Czech attitude in which people try to outsmart or gain an advantage over one another. It can also be interpreted as satire of Czech society and politics.
