Popis: INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE (PRAŽSKÉ JEZULÁTKO) The Infant Jesus of Prague is one of the most famous religious treasures in the Czech Republic. It is located inside the Church of Our Lady Victorious in Malá Strana (Lesser Town). The small statue of Jesus as a child originates from 16th-century Spain and is only 47 centimetres tall. In 1628, Czech noblewoman Polyxena of Lobkowicz donated the statue to the Carmelite monks. The Infant Jesus is famous for its richly decorated clothing and golden crowns. Its collection contains around 300 garments, donated by people from around the world. The clothes are traditionally changed about 10 times a year, depending on the religious season. One of the most famous garments was embroidered by Empress Maria Theresa herself. For centuries, people have believed that the Infant Jesus possesses miraculous powers, particularly for healing, protection, and helping families. Today, it attracts pilgrims and tourists from around the world, especially from Spain, Italy, Latin America, and the Philippines. Admission is FREE! Visitors can also explore a small museum displaying the statue's historic clothing and religious gifts.
