Popis: FRANZ KAFKA'S ROTATING HEAD (HLAVA FRANZE KAFKY) The Rotating Head of Franz Kafka is one of Prague's most fascinating modern sculptures, created by famous Czech artist David Černý in 2014. The sculpture is 11 metres tall, weighs 39 tonnes, and consists of 42 rotating stainless-steel layers. Each layer moves independently, constantly changing the appearance of Kafka's face. Franz Kafka (1883–1924) was a Prague-born Jewish writer who wrote in German. He is one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, best known for his novel The Trial and his famous story The Metamorphosis. The sculpture stands next to the Quadrio Shopping Centre, near Národní třída metro station. Admission is FREE! The sculpture rotates for the first 15 minutes of every hour, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. It is especially impressive after dark when illuminated.
