Popis: PRAGUE MERIDIAN (PRAŽSKÝ POLEDNÍK) Since 1652, the Prague Meridian, located in Old Town Square, was used to determine the exact time of noon in Prague. It worked using the shadow of the Marian Column. When the shadow fell directly on the meridian line, it indicated 12:00 noon. From the 18th century, Prague's local time was also determined at the Klementinum using a sundial. Interestingly, the time difference between the Klementinum and Old Town Square was only one second. From 1842, noon in Prague was officially announced by waving a flag from the Klementinum tower. Between 1891 and 1925/1926, this signal was also accompanied by a cannon shot, allowing people across Prague to know when it was exactly noon.
