Popis: TROJA CHATEAU (ZÁMEK TROJA) Troja Chateau is one of Prague's most beautiful Baroque buildings. Rather than a traditional castle, it is a magnificent Baroque villa, surrounded by elegant gardens. Construction began in 1679. The interiors are decorated with impressive ceiling frescoes and magnificent paintings, while the surrounding gardens feature beautiful terraces, sculptures, and fountains. On October 7, 1922, the last private owner, Alois Svoboda, donated the château and extensive land and properties in Prague-Troja to the Czechoslovak state. The donation commemorated the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1918, the 70th birthday of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (1920), and the 250th anniversary of the death of Jan Amos Comenius (1670–1920), a famous Czech philosopher and educator. Svoboda made the donation on the condition that the property would be used for educational, social, and humanitarian purposes, particularly to support young people in the spirit of Comenius's educational philosophy. Today, Troja Chateau is managed by the Prague City Gallery and hosts art exhibitions and cultural events. It is also famous for its grand staircase, beautiful Baroque gardens, and impressive architecture.
