Maisel Synagogue

Popis: MAISEL SYNAGOGUE (MAISELOVA SYNAGOGA) The Maisel Synagogue was built in the late 16th century in Prague's historic Jewish Quarter. In 1689, the synagogue was severely damaged by a devastating fire that spread throughout the Jewish Ghetto. During the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia (1939–1945), the synagogue was used to store confiscated Jewish property. Approximately 6,000 valuable artworks and religious objects from 153 synagogues across Bohemia and Moravia were brought here. Today, the Maisel Synagogue is part of the Jewish Museum in Prague, preserving and presenting the rich history and cultural heritage of Czech Jews.
