Popis: KAMPA ISLAND (OSTROV KAMPA) Kampa Island is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Prague, located on the Vltava River, just below Charles Bridge. It is an artificial island, separated from Malá Strana (Lesser Town) by a man-made millstream called Čertovka (Devil's Stream). The earliest written reference to this area dates back to 1169, in the founding charter of the Church of the Knights Hospitaller. According to old Prague legends, Kampa was once home to mysterious creatures, including water spirits (vodníci), water nymphs (rusalky), and other supernatural beings. The picturesque houses along Čertovka, with the water flowing between them, have earned this area the nickname "Prague's Little Venice". Today, Kampa is a peaceful and romantic part of Prague, famous for its historic watermills, charming bridges, beautiful park, and riverside views.
